My wife bumped a person ahead of her in the drive-thru line at Dunkin' Donuts, just a scratch to their bumper, they had previous damage and admitted it right there. The other driver got an estimate of $800 to fix it, we were skeptical because of the obvious prior damage (to the other side from where my wife hit it!). We called State Farm to alert them and see if we should pay out of pocket or claim it, and to make sure their investigator makes note of the prior damage. They said it's under $1,000 so our rates won't go up. Then, instead of doing a proper investigation they sent the other woman to some other body shop without telling us, the new shop jacked up the repair price, which allowed Joe Ciraulo's office to then jack up our rate DOUBLE what it was. What a nice scam they have going! We had clean driving records, no other accidents or claims with them EVER and had been using State Farm since 2004. To top it off, they called my ex-wife and daughter, who aren't even on the policy and their phone numbers aren't, leaving voice mail asking for my current wife (even though their voice mail said their name and it's nowhere near hers) and mentioning the accident. So that was very sloppy and a violation of our privacy. Very upset about all of this, we are moving all of our insurance off State Farm. My sister did too, I should have listened to them, they paid State Farm in PA for years and were dropped because of one accident, the first on their record! I guess they want to receive, but not give, not in the holiday spirit, Mr. Scrooge. Great insurance, just don't ever try to use it!
